And then there was four.

The British Columbia Libertarian Party and Green Party announced their respective candidates for the upcoming Provincial Election in BC.

British Columbia Libertarian Party has tabbed Terry Tiessen their candidate for the Nelson-Creston riding the October 24th election.

Meanwhile, it was announced Monday that Nicole Charlwood is stepping into the political ring to represent the Green Party.

‘I have lived in the Nelson area for 30 wonderful years now, choosing to raise my three children in the beauty and the culture of the Kootenays, Tiessen said in a media release.

“It was in 2017 that I decided if I wanted to persevere and leave a world for those children that have impenetrable Individual, Property and Privacy Rights, I would have to join and run for the BC Libertarian Party.”

Tiessen has spent his entire life and background in the non-profit sector, working in the early days of Greenpeace, WCCW, and Gitsan Land Claims, to Slocan Reading Center and most recently the Humane Society.

“This has led me to this point of great change for all of us,” Tiessen said.

Tiessen and Charlwood will add their name to the ballot as candidates for the MLA seat in Nelson-Creston riding along with Tanya Finley of the BC Liberal Party and Brittny Anderson of the BC NDP.

Charlwood has lived in the Heritage City for 20 years, and serves on the Regional District of Central Kootenay watershed advisory committee.

The Green Party candidate has previously served as acting director for the West Kootenay EcoSociety, is treasurer for the Nelson Waldorf school and is a review committee member for the Columbia Basin Trust community grants program.

Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau said Charlwood is a "stellar candidate and I’m proud to have her carrying our BC Green banner in your community."

Nelson-Creston has been represented NDP MLA Michelle Mungall since 2009.

In 2017, Mungall retained the seat for the NDP with a comfortable 14.03 per cent margin over Kim Charlesworth of the Green Party and Tanya Wall of the BC Liberal Party.
