Three killed, one seriously injured in car crash near Lytton

Police are investigating a fatal crash after a vehicle was located down an embankment Thursday afternoon during their search for three people reported to be missing in the area.

Wednesday (June 11) afternoon, Lytton RCMP were alerted to a report of three missing people who were due to return from the Pasulko Lake area.

An initial search of the area did not locate the missing group.

The search resumed Thursday with assistance from the Pemberton Search and Rescue, an RCMP Helicopter from Kamloops, and community members including family members.

A vehicle associated to the missing group was quickly located down an embankment with three people located deceased at the scene.

A fourth person suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. Efforts to extricate that person are currently underway.
 
The investigation into the crash is in the preliminary stages and the causal factors are not yet known.
 
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The Lytton RCMP continues to assist the BC Coroners service in this investigation.
