Street Outreach pilot program reaches out to council in first report

Although the initial work of the Downtown Nelson Street Outreach pilot project has been deemed an unqualified success, the aim of the project from a council perspective has not hit the mark yet, says one city councilor.

Michael Dailly told the project’s manager, Lynda Dechief, that the point of the Street Outreach project was to deal with aggressive panhandling, yet there are still problems such as some people affecting and impeding downtown businesses and people smoking in no smoking areas, to name a few, he said.
