Work on the Stores to Shores Revitalization Project in downtown Nelson.

City of Nelson media consultant Darren Davidson said a guard fence has been erected around the 300, 400 and 500 blocks — but the sidewalks remains open to pedestrians.

Davidson said there’ll be terrific new directional signage promoting businesses in the construction zone going up in the next few days.

He added Asphalt has been milled the 400 and 500 Blocks of Hall Street while buried utility construction is proceeding in the 500 Block of Hall Street and in IODE park.

That work will continue for the next two weeks.

Davidson said the intersection of Baker and Hall remains open but there will be some delays due to truck traffic.

Monday, work on shallow utilities on the 300 Block of Hall Street commenced, as did excavation at the intersection of Hall and Vernon.

Last week crews from Maglio Installation removed the old water main from the lower part of IODE Park.

The main was installed in the 1930s.
