Another week and another step closer to the end as crews continue to work on the City of Nelson’s Stores to Shores Downtown Revitalization project.

After spending the weekend focusing on the installation of concrete on the west portion of the patio area of IODE Park, Maglio Installations crews will be installing paving stones on the Bibo patio this week.

As well, two gas lines located on the east side of IODE Park will be lowered to make room for the “social steps” that will be located in the new plaza.

To make way for the work, the stairs on the east side of the Park will be closed as will the stairs adjacent to Boomtown.

To make room for multiple utility crossings and new manhole covers at Hume Lane and the 400 block of Hall Street, drivers needing to access to the east portion of the lane are asked to use the Hendryx Street entrance.

The public is asked to observe the directions from flaggers, as Nelson Commons will be moving large, heavy loads over top of the lane with the crane.

Access to the west portion of Hume Lane is still restricted due to the instillation of water and storm infrastructure, towards Vernon.

A reminder too, that crews are quickly approaching Vernon Street.

Once work reaches Vernon and Hall, that intersection will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Drivers, pedestrians and businesses will want to keep that mind as that part of the project nears its start.
