Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning Tuesday for Highway 3 Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Environment Canada said total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.

“A frontal system moving through southeastern British Columbia will bring snow to parts of the region today,” Environment Canada said.

“Snow will become at times heavy on Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass tonight before tapering off early tomorrow morning as the system exits the region.”

Environment Canada said rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations with visibility suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Environment Canada said weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Shift Into Winter reminds drivers to know before they go and adjust to winter driving behaviour by using winter tires and chains.

Road conditions are available at DriveBC.
