Snowfall Warning for Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass

Environment Canada has issued at Snowfall Warning Tuesday for Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Environment Canada said heavy snow is forecast for Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass as well as Coquihalla Summit, Rogers Pass, North and West Columbia including Blue River and Revelstoke especially to the west of Revelstoke.

Environment Canada said snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm with low visibility in heavy snow is expected from now through early Wednesday.

“An intense frontal system will move across the BC interior today and tonight,” Environment Canada website said.

“Light snow will intensify this morning and persist through today, tapering to light flurries or stopping early Wednesday morning.”

Environment Canada advises drivers to be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions as visibility is most likely to be reduced while driving.

“Turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance,” Environment Canada said.

“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”

The website Shift Into Winter reminds drivers to be prepared before trips and to adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.
