Snow Day for parts of Kootenay Lake School District

Students in parts of Kootenay Lake School District are not in class today due to a Snow Day said a media release Monday morning.

“To ensure the safety of all our staff and students, schools will be closed today for Nelson, Salmo, Slocan Valley and Kaslo Family of Schools,” the media release said. “Creston schools are still in session.”

Kootenay Lake School District said students should remain at home or parents should make other accommodations for kids as busses are not running due to snow, roads and difficulty for staff and students to get to school safely.

The release said School District Staff were to report to their supervisor for instructions.

The Kootenay Lake School District includes schools in Crawford Bay, Creston, Kaslo, Meadow Creek, Nelson, Salmo, Slocan, South Slocan, Winlaw, Wynndel and Yahk. There are more than 5,400 students in the district.
