Selkirk Paving Ltd receives Award of Excellence

Selkirk Paving Ltd. is proving it’s more than just a paving company.

The Crescent Valley based company recent received the Community Service Award of Excellence 2019 by the BC Government at the BC Highways Awards ceremony for its positive contributions to the communities the company serves.

“Congratulations to Selkirk Paving on the outstanding community service they have provided to their community,”  a BC Government spokesperson said.

Selkirk Paving Ltd was recognized for going above and beyond during the final stages of the City of Nelson’s Hall Street revitalization project during the spring of 2019.

“Many of the finishing touches to this project were outside the scope of the general contract and ineligible for grant re-imbursement,” said the government spokesperson.

“Selkirk Paving stepped up, surfacing the area between the parking lot and unimproved airport lands creating a useable pathway that demonstrates Selkirk Paving’s commitment to their community.”

Also in 2019, Selkirk Paving contributed to the community with the Dig With Dad event hosted the Chalko Mika Mall.

Selkirk Paving allowed kids to sit in and minimally operate their machines. This event helped raise more than $5,000 for ALS.

Since 2017, Selkirk Paving, also a major sponsor to the annual Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament at Granite Pointe in Nelson, has donated funds and equipment toward the Rossland Skatepark in the City of Rossland.

The Nelson Tennis Club and Nelson Nordic Ski Club have also benefited from Selkirk Paving donations of both material and time.

In 2015 Selkirk Paving Ltd. received the Deputy Minister’s Contractor of the Year Award in the category of paving for the Highway 3 Bombi Junction to Nelway Junction resurfacing project.

Provincial honours and awards are a memorable and distinctive way for the government of British Columbia to thank and pay special tribute to those British Columbian’s whose lives exemplify excellence and achievement of the highest order.
