The L.V. Rogers will be well tuned and ready for action when the club opens play Monday at the 16-team B.C. High School AA Boy’s Soccer Championships in Burnaby.

Rested? Now that may be a concern.

Most of the Bombers were in Vernon during the weekend playing in the Vancouver Whitecaps Kootenay Soccer Academy before traveling late Sunday to the Lower Mainland to play in the AA provincials.

“The tournament was to have started on Wednesday but (organizers) moved the dates for the AA tournament up a few days,” said coach Dave Spendlove.

The Bombers get little time to rest and relax from the weekend of training at the Whitecaps programe as the Kootenay champs open the tournament bright and early at 9 a.m. Monday against Okanagan Mission of Kelowna.

LVR then meets Aldergrove at 12:45 p.m. to complete Day one of the round robin draw.

The final game of round robin goes Tuesday at 11 a.m. against West Vancouver Sentinel.

The top teams in each of the four round-robin pools advance to the tournament final four with the winners playing for the provincial crown.

The rest of the teams play in the consolation rounds.

LVR did not qualify for provincials in 2011 losing to Mount Baker Wild in the AAA zones.

The Bombers, fielding one of the youngest varsity teams in school history, decided to drop to the AA division for this year and qualified easily last month in Creston.

The Bombers were the top seed at the Kootenay tournament and easily defeated host Prince Charles in the final 3-0.
