Castlegar continued its dominance over the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League, and the Nelson Leafs, as the Rebels won for the ninth consecutive time Saturday night in Nelson.

Dallas Goodwin scored with 27 seconds remaining in the first overtime, sparking the Rebels to a 2-1 victory over the Leafs in a spirited affair at the NDCC Arena.

The win was the third straight for Castlegar over Nelson.

With time running out in the first period of extra time, Goodwin combined with Edward Lindsey to beat Josh Williams in the Leaf nets.

The goal set off a melee after Jesse Belley was whistled for a match penalty by referee Jim Maniago.

Four Nelson players, Dash Thompson, Logan Wullum, Jackson Zimmermann and Brent Headon and two Rebels skaters, Vince Bitonti and Tanner Costa, were hit with non-fighting Game Misconducts.

Headon was also whistled for a four-minute penalty for leaving the bench.
Nelson held a 1-0 lead for most of the game after Ryan Piva slammed in a loose puck past Rebel goaltender Tanner Douglas on the power play less than five minutes into the game.

Castlegar tied the game midway through the third period when Jordan Wood beat Williams in the Nelson nets.

Castlegar outshot the Leafs 24-19 in the contest.

Nelson, 21-6-1-0-2, maintains a three-point lead in the Murdoch Division over the high-flying Rebels. The Leafs have played one more game than Castlegar.

The Leafs host Grand Forks Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the NDCC Arena.

Castlegar travels to Beaver Valley Sunday to face the Beaver Valley Nitehawks at the Fruitvale Memorial Arena.
