The Regional District of Central Kootenay said in a media release Wednesday, that effective immediately, mandatory Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures are being implemented in the South Slocan Water System.

The RDCK said the system is experiencing high water use and declining reservoir levels.

“As a proactive measure for the anticipated extended hot weather and high levels of demand, the South Slocan Water System requires users conserve water,” the RDCK said.

STAGE 2 WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES are now in effect:

  • Watering of lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs is ONLY permitted between 6 a.m.-10 a.m. and 8 p.m-10 p.m.
  • Watering of gardens, trees and shrubs by watering can or hand-held hose is still permitted anytime.

The RDCK appreciates the cooperation in adhering to the above water conservation measures by South Slocan Water System users.

Stage 2 Water Conservation Measures will remain in effect until further notice and stricter water conservation measures may be required if demand increases significantly, stream flows decline, or hot and dry weather prevails.

Additional water conservation measures are available on the RDCK website: www.rdck.ca/water
