Regional District of Central Kootenay Board adopted its 2017—2021 Financial Plan Friday with the total taxation for the district checking in at approximately $25.7 million

In a media release the RDCK said taxation in the General Administration service will not change from 2016.

However, the release said Rural Administration service would increase by 28%, which translates into an extra $9 on a $300,000 home.

The increase is due to the hirig of a part-time bylaw officer and the expansion of the RDCK FireSmart program.

Other changes include increases to the transit budgets due to expansion around the region.

“The major projects the RDCK is undertaking in 2017 align to the strategic priorities that the Board identified in 2016,” said Stuart Horn, Chief Administrative Officer for the RDCK.

“These projects include a parks and trails inventory, agriculture

RDCK Chairperson Karen Hamling said directors are grateful to all those residents who attended the public budget meetings.

“The Board and staff do their best to produce a budget that is fiscally responsible and meets the needs of our residents, to ensure they receive the services they want,” Hamling said.

The RDCK manages and delivers 165 services. For more information on what the RDCK does for you, please visit the website.
