Members of RCMP West Kootenay Traffic and Nelson Detachment are working in conjunction to determine the cause of an accident that killed a man Sunday (March 5) near Balfour Sergeant Chad Badry of the West Kootenay Traffic and Integrated Road Safety Units said in a media release Monday.

Badry said the 30-year-old driver of the of a southbound-heading vehicle was found deceased at the scene off Highway 3A several hours after being reported missing by family.

“The name of the deceased male is not being released at this time out of respect for the family and until permission from the Coroner has been given,” Badry said.

Badry said the investigation continues, however, at this point, road conditions do not appear to be a major contributing factor in this accident.
