RCMP investigate fatal boating accident on Kootenay lake

RCMP continue to investigate circumstances surrounding the death Thursday afternoon of a Boswell man on Kootenay Lake a media release said.

RCMP said on May 26th, 2022, at 2:28 p.m. the Creston RCMP received a report of a boat collision that occurred on the Southwest shore of Kootenay Lake.

“Through investigation it was determined that the boat had (run) aground on Kootenay Lake at Rhinoceros point,” RCMP said.

“At the time of the collision the boat had two occupants, and one received serious injuries from the collision.”

Nelson RCMP Corporal Derek Pitt said the investigation remains in the preliminary stages, adding there is no indication that impairment by the driver was a factor.

RCMP said the injured occupant was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment, but unfortunately the 25-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.
