Everyone says a “friend in need, is a friend indeed.”

This Mother Duck, unknowingly, was never so happy as to have this cautious, and courteous, Clark Freightways driver watching the road Saturday afternoon near Taghum.

The driver saw Mother Duck trying to cross Highway 3A with her young flock in search of Kootenay River waters.

The Clark Freightways driver, seeing this could be curtains for the ducks, slowly stopped his truck in the middle of the highway.

Flipping on the 4-way flashers, he jumped out of the truck before halting traffic in both directions.

The driver then scurried the ducks across the highway to safety before climbing back into his truck for the ride back to the warehouse in Castlegar.

This quick action by the Clark Freightways driver meant there was no need for a 9-1-1 call to police or emergency health services.
