A contract has been awarded to resurface a portion of Highway 95 south of Golden.

A $1.5-million contract has been awarded to Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. to resurface approximately 5.5 kilometres of Highway 95, from Nicholson north to Golden.

As part of this contract, there will also be local side road improvements. Work will begin this spring, with completion anticipated by Aug. 30.

This work on Highway 95 builds on recently announced improvements to Highway 1 near Golden.

Work is underway on the replacement of the existing two-lane Donald Bridge with a new four-lane bridge over the Columbia River, as well as a new four-lane crossing over the Canadian Pacific Railway.

The Donald Bridge project is expected to be completed by December 2012.
Since 2001, the Province has invested $880 million in transportation and community infrastructure in the Kootenay region.

This construction season will be a busy one on B.C. highways. Motorists are advised to “know before you go” and check DriveBC for any planned construction delays: www.drivebc.ca.
