A vehicle explosion in the 2 Street and 8 Avenue area of downtown Castlegar last night has police asking for public assistance.

Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dave Johnson said the incident wasn’t called in to police until the following morning, but reports made to The Source about the sound of explosions during the night may be related.

“Anyone with more information is asked to contact police (or Crime Stoppers),” he said. The Castlegar detachment number is 250-365-7721.

Reports received from readers would indicate the initial explosion happened at around 3:30 a.m. on May 9, but The Source was unable to confirm the time.

Johnson said there were no injuries as a result of the explosion, but property damage was incurred.

Again, anyone with information is asked to call the Castlegar detachment at 250-365-7721.
