Naomi Perkins scored twice to spark the L.V. Rogers to a 2-0 victory over Trail’s J. Lloyd Crowe in semi finals of the Kootenay High School AA Girl’s Soccer Zone Finals Wednesday in Creston.

The Bombers, the top seed in the tournament, advance to the final Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

LVR dominated the contest but struggled to find success around the cage.

Perkins opened the scoring against the Hawks after taking a slick pass from Abbie Bourchier-Willans.

Perkins then made it 2-0 by teaming up with Taylor Zimmerman to add some insurance.

Hanna Quinn had little work in goal to register the shutout.

The winner advances to the BC High School AA Girl’s Soccer Championships May 28-30 at Crofton House in Vancouver.

LVR, the defending Kootenay Champs, tuned up for the zones by capturing the top prize at the recent Mount Baker Wild Tournament.

The Bombers defeated host Wild 2-0 in the final, advancing to the championship by a 33-2 goal margin.

“The biggest success story so far is how the girls have played,” said coach Brett Adams.

“They are playing a passing style game with the GK (goalkeeper) looking to play out from the back.”

“All of the attacks are played from defense through the midfield,” Adams added.

“Long ball play is very rare. We have been complemented on our style.”

The Junior Bombers have played one game this season, posting a 4-0 shutout of Stanley Humphries Rockers of Castlegar.
