Nelson Youth Soccer grad Julia Burkart has been a strong recruit for the Thompson Rivers University Varsity Soccer squad this fall.

Burkart has fit in quite well with Wolfpack following a sensational career with NYS Selects, helping the U18s capture the BC Provincial B Cup this past summer.

The rookie defender has played most of the minutes during the season for TRU.

Despite a 1-7 record, the Wolfpack have been a thorn in the side of Canada West women’s soccer squads.

The WolfPack will wrap up their three-match home stand on Thursday (Oct 4) when the UBCO Heat come to town. It’s the start of a home and home series between the two schools and is the fourth in the “President’s Cup” series.

Also on TRU from Nelson is forward Shianne Michalchuk.
