NPD has its hands full with wild party in Uphill

Nelson Police were kept busy Friday night (September 12) dealing with more than 75-under-aged kids at a house party in the Uphill district of Nelson.

Police were called to the Uphill residence by nearby neighbours complaining about the noise.

When members arrived they found a severely intoxicated, and injured, youth who required medical attention.

BC Ambulance was called to deal with the injured youth while Nelson Police dealt to the matter of partygoers determined to keep partying and disturbing the neighbourhood while spilling into neighbours’ yards.

The matter remains under investigation, as police are eager to interview the homeowner.

NPD would like to warn the public that hosts of these types parties maybe subject to fines under the local Bylaw for the excessive noise.

These fines start at $100, increasing to as much as $2000.
 
There are also charges under the Criminal Code for Mischief by interfering with other person lawful enjoyment of their property, which can carry large fines and/or jail time.
 
12 unlock cars in the Fairview area burglarized

During the night of September 10 & 11, an unknown culprit broke into approximately a dozen unlock cars in the Fairview area, removing valuables and change.

Nelson Police have recovered some of the stolen property and are trying to identify a suspect. 

People are reminded to remove all valuables from cars at night and keep them locked.

Thefts are preventable if people take the right steps.
