New Denver emergency department to remain open

Interior Health would like to advise the public in the New Denver, Slocan Lake region that the Slocan Community Health Centre will remain open Labour Day weekend.
Interior Health had announced August 23, of the pending closure from Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. until Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 8 a.m. due to unfilled physician shifts.
However, those shifts have now been filled, which will allow the emergency department to remain open per regular hours of operation — between Friday, Sept. 1 and Tuesday, Sept. 5.
“IH appreciates the support of physicians in addressing this situation,” the media release said. “We regret any inconvenience this notice may have caused.”
IH said regular emergency department hours for the health centre in New Denver are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
