Neptunes slowly building toward BCSSA Championships

Neptune swimmers were back in the competitive pool during the weekend as Nelson travelled to the East Kootenay to compete at the Creston Waves Kootenay Summer Swim Association meet this past weekend.

Nelson finished fifth in the seven-team meet as Castlegar took over top spot with a first place finish.

Surprising Grand Forks Piranhas finished second with host Creston third.

Trail Stingrays took fourth with Kimberley and Colville, Wash., rounding out the standings.

Keira and Kallie Badry led the Neptunes with a gold medal performance in Division one and two girls, respectively.

Other results included:

  • Division 2: Lachlan Bibby-Fox- second, Sasha Eaton-third,
  • Division 3: Ella Chouinard- third,
  • Division 5: Madeline Holitzki- third,
  • Division 6: Matthew Holitzki – third
  • Division 8: Sarah Broen – second

The Neptunes venture outside the Kootenay region this weekend, traveling to Kelowna to compete in the Tri-Region Meet.

The following weekend Nelson swimmers return for a meet in Colville July 8-9.

Meets in Castlegar July 15-16 and Kimberley July 29-30 conclude the regular season before Nelson hosts the Kootenay Regionals August 5-6 at the NDCC Aquatic Centre.

The BC Summer Swim Association Championships are set for August 17-20 in Kamloops.
