Neptunes open KSSA season with smashing performance; host meet June 3-4
The Nelson Neptunes took home a fourth-place finish at the opening meet of the Kootenay Summer Swim Association season Sunday in Trail.
Lachlan Bibby-Fox turned in a gold medal performance in Division 2 Boys to lead the Neptune charge.
“Our first meet in Trail was a huge success, a lot of new swimmers where able to attend and get a feel for what racing is all about and experience all the fun of swim meets,” said Nelson coach Sarah Broen.
“We had lots of best times . . . overall, the team accomplished some excellent times at the first meet of the season.”
Nelson sent a small contingent of swimmers to Trail.
Other results included:
- Division 1 girls: Keira Badry – second
- Division 2 Girls: Kallie Badry – second
- Division 3 girls: Chloe Malenfant and Ella Chouinard ties for second
- Division 6 girls: Hannah Malenfant – second, Olivia Cowan – third
- Division 6 boys: Matthew Holitzki – third
The Neptunes return home to host its meet Saturday and Sunday at the NDCC Aquatic Centre.
