No time like the present to join the Nelson Neptunes says head coach Michelle Lorusso.

The Neptunes begin the 2011 Kootenay Summer Swim Association season Monday with training at the Nelson and District Community Complex Pool.

“We are looking for new and past swimmers to register online,” said Lorusso, adding the interested aqua kids can go to nelsonneptunes.com to sign up.

The Neptunes program is for swimmers from six years old to adult. Lorusso has added some quality coaches in former Neptunes Melissa and Rebecca Afford along with Kiandra McLaren. All three all graduates of the program.

“The coaching staff is looking forward to another fun and successful season,” said Lorusso.

This is the 43rd season for the Neptunes.

The team competes on the Kootenay Summer Swim Association circuit against teams from Trail, Castlegar, Grand Forks, Kimberley, Creston and Colville, Wash.

The season begins in June 4 at the NDCC Pool with the Neptunes home meet.

The season continues with meets culminating with the Regional Championships August 6-7.

The B.C. Summer Swim Association Championships are August 15-21 in Richmond.
