When the Florida Panthers take to the ice to open the National Hockey League season Thursday in Tampa Bay against the Lightning, former Nelson Minor Hockey product Dryden Hunt will be in the lineup.

Hunt, who signed as a free agent for the Panthers in 2016, skated on the fourth line for the Panthers Monday with Noel Acciari and Colton Sceviour as Florida prepares to open the season on the road against Tampa Bay.

The 6-foot, 201-pound Hunt signed a one-year, two-way contract in July with the Panthers.

Last season, Hunt scored three times for 10 points in 31 games with the Panthers.

The 23-year-old Hunt also scored 23 goals and 44 points in 51 games for the Panthers American Hockey League affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds.

Hunt has played in 42 NHL games during his career.
