Nelson Youth Soccer held a brief ceremony Tuesday to honour the amazing contribution of former executive member, coach and player, Kerry Dyck.

Dyck lost his battle against cancer in January of this year.

Brett Adams of the Vancouver Whitecaps led the crowd of players, coaches, parents as well as members of Kerry's family, including his parents and wife Heather and children, in a moment of silence honour Dyck. The one-minute of silence was followed by one minute of clapping to salute the countless hours of dedication Kerry Dyck made to soccer.

Kerry Dyck, who loved the sport of soccer, played for the Bombers at L.V. Rogers High School before moving to Vancouver.

He returned to play for the Heritage Innkeepers Men’s Soccer Team where he was coach and manager.

Dyck, who coached the Nelson Selects U18 Boy's team in 2017, was also an instrumental member of Nelson Youth Soccer, joining the board as well as coaching for years in the house and rep program.

Dyck worked as a financial planner at Investors Group Financial Services in Nelson.

Tuesday's Rep training at Lakeside Soccer Fields, held under glorious sunshine, was the first of the 2018 outdoor season.
