"At the heart The Tinfoil Sky is 12-year-old Mel, for whom home is a constantly shifting concept as she and her mother cope with past and present demons. When custody is awarded to Mel’s bitter, angry grandmother, Mel hopes for sanctuary, but instead is left to find it herself. A growing friendship with a boy she meets in the library, and stories shared by a kindly shopkeeper offer Mel a glimmer of hope as she tries to understand her past and create the possibility of a future."-- Anne Degrace
This 10-minute video was made at the launch event on January 22 for Cyndi Sand-Eveland's The Tinfoil Sky, her new novel for young readers. The video shows Anne Degrace's introduction and an excerpt from Cyndi's reading from the novel. Then Cyndi answers questions from the audience and makes some very interesting observations about what led her to write a book about homelessness.
