Nelson Minor Hockey grads lead Leafs past Braves 5-2

The Nelson Leafs once again let the offence do the talking, scoring three third-period goal en route to a 5-2 crushing of the Spokane Braves in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action Saturday night at the NDCC Arena.

The win, the second in two games, is the 13th straight game Nelson has accumulated points.

Nelson is 8-0-0-1 in the month of November.

Two Nelson Minor Hockey grads got the gold star for the Leafs with Dallon Stoddart leading the show with a pair of markers to finish the game with three points.

Teammate Carsen Willans had a goal and two assists.

Matt MacDonald and Linden Horswill scored to make it an-All Nelson Minor Hockey night.

Brycen Fisher and Sean Collins replied for the Braves.

The Leafs led 2-1 after two periods and out shot the Braves 34-23 in the game and 15-5 in the third period.

Cody Boeckman registered the win in goal for Nelson.

The Leafs, two points in front of Castlegar in the Murdoch Division, return to action Thursday in Grand Forks.

Next home game is Friday against the same Bruins at 7 p.m.
