Nelson Fire Rescue says dust, not smoke spotted near Grohman Park
Nelson Fire Services Leo Grypma said the department has been fielding many calls Monday evening regarding smoke near Grohman Park west of Nelson.
However, Grypma would like to ease the public concern, saying the smoke is really dust coming from a company drilling at Grohman Storage Units business across Highway 3A from Grohman Provincial Park.
“It looks like large amounts of smoke but in fact it is only dust created from the drilling,” Grypma said in a media release.
“A representative from the company said drilling would be completed no later than (Tuesday) August 22 at 7 p.m., and sooner if they hit water.”
Grypma said Nelson Fire Rescue have received a large number of calls regarding this issue and have confirmed It is just dust.
