Nelson Fire crews got an early morning call Wednesday of a report a house was on fire.

The call came in at 1:58 a.m. from a Nelson homeowner.

When the on-duty crew arrived with one engine, they found electrical service line to the house had burned off with fire damage to surrounding foliage and charring to the fascia and soffits.

Fortunately there was no extension to the interior of the house.

Nelson Hydro crews were called to the scene and disconnected the power to the home.

Nelson Fire Rescue would like to remind the public to try to reduce coniferous vegetation from within three meters surrounding your residence and ensureĀ  a working smoke alarm in homes at all times.
