Nelson fashion designer makes snowboarding look even better

There’s another L.V. Rogers High School grad making a splash in the fashion industry at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond.
Jenna Renwick of Nelson hopes to bring snowboarders the ultimate function, comfort and safety combined with state of the art styling with her TerraRada line.
“Being a female involved in action sports, it’s frustrating to constantly see women’s product that’s poor in fit, function and style,” Renwick told The Nelson Daily.
“Most of the time my friends and I are wearing men’s gear because the styles are more functional and the fit is better.”
Renwick is one of three LVR grads entering the final year of Fashion Design Bachelor Degree program.
Rheanne Segstro and Emma Walker are also graduating and will be displaying their own new clothing lines at Kwantlen’s “The Show” on April 3rd at the River Rock Casino.
Renwick boasts as being a designer, innovator and engineer of technical outerwear apparel who’s finishing up her fourth year at Kwantlen.
The 2012 Fall Winter line by Renwick was inspired by 3 Dimensional Digital Photography. The designs capture the abstract natural elements in nature by use of fabric textures and graphics that pop combined with a refined clean finish.
One of TerraRada’s top product features are the abrasion resistant three-dimensional padding and patches on certain areas that are highly used by riders and the back packs they carry.
“Not only do these aspects make the pieces stand out “literally”, they provide the wearer with protection from wearing out or hitting the snow hard,” Renwick said.
Renwick served her internship in production and design at Sombrio, a North Vancouver based mountain bike apparel company.
Renwick’s extreme sense for the outdoors — being a downhill skier and mountain biker — has lead her to be a functional trendsetter for outerwear apparel.
She not only values style, but also new innovative way of practicality and is constantly developing, planning and creating new clothing ideas that are ergonomically designed to work with outdoor extremists to match their desire for function.
