Nelson captures West Kootenay Midget House Title

Nelson won the 2018 West Kootenay Minor Hockey League Midget House Playoffs in a thriller Sunday in Rossland.
Nelson 2 edged Trail Midgets 5-4 in shootout, after the teams played through 65 minutes tied 3-3.
Nelson 2, winner of the regular season with a 34-4-2 record, opened the tournament 9-0 win against Castlegar Friday.
The Heritage City squad then bounded Trail MH2 winning 6-2 Saturday morrning before dumping Boundary 7-3 win.
In the semi-finals Nelson blasted Moscow Bears 6-0.
This setup the final game in Rossland against the Trail Midget which went to a three-player shootout after the teams remained tied following a five-minute sudden death overtime.
The team includes, coaches Martin Grill, Dave Zarikoff and trainer Mark Speilman; players Alex Laing, Sasha Lawrence, Josh Schacher, Ethan Grill, Blair Sookro, Mike Zarikoff, Ben Price, T.J. Winters, Ava Young, Max Speilman, Kyle Patton, Noah Whiffen, Bryce Winters and manager Joyce Whiffen.
