Nelson Atoms Sweep top medals at Vernon Atomic Tournament

It was a Nelson sweep of the top medals at the Vernon 2017 Atomic Minor Hockey Tournament this past weekend in the Central Okanagan City.

Nelson Atoms swept the top-two spots at the 10-team event, with Nelson 1 edging Nelson 2 3-2 in the Championship Final Sunday.

Nelson 1 advanced to the final on goal average as the squad finished in a tie with rival Castlegar following round robin action.

Meanwhile, in Pool A Nelson two finished with a division leading 12.5 points to capture Pool A.

In the Final, both teams played well with Nelson 1 coming out on top in the evenly-played tournament final.

Both teams were on the ice together this week to snap a team photo.

The players include Dax Dewar, Max Jean, Jack Boyes, Austin Shrieves, Kai Smith, Levi Konken, Cash Linnen, Gunnar Evenson, Cohan Wolbaum, Miller Tedesco, Kale Gehrmann, Eryn Dimopoulos, Marley Fode, Owen Wolf, Larson Proctor, Theo, Byers-Bohigian, Kaleb Weller, Griffin Wanhella, Sebastien Conne-Correnti, Sawan Bhabra, Parker Wolbaum, Weston McBeath, Ryder Nash, Quinn Wilkinson and goalies Grady Groenhuysen and Shea Andersen.

Coaches are, Atom Team 1, Kevin Dewar, Shawn Correnti and Manager Staci Proctor; Atom Team 2 Dallas Wolbaum, Jamie Tedesco, Brad McBeath and Manager Marlo Tedesco.
