It must be getting close to the Federal Election.

Why else would NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh pay another visit to Nelson.

Singh, member of parliament for Burnaby South riding, was in the Heritage City Tuesday speaking to the electorate while offering up ice cream during an informal Meet and Greet outside Save-on-Foods in the Chalko Mika Mall.

“What’s your biggest concern,” asked one happy customer prior to receiving a cone filled with chocolate ice cream.

Singh replied that he wanted a government that governed for all people of Canada and not just certain groups.

The lineup for ice cream for afternoon grocery shoppers, arriving into the cool store from the warm summer temperature, was constant for Singh and Kootenay Columbia MP Wayne Stetski as the duo filled cone after cone while speaking with voters.

This is the second time in the past eight months that Singh has paid a visit to the riding. He visited Kootenay Columbia riding in November 2018, stopping in Nelson to speak to supporters at the Nelson Curling Club.

That was before Singh was a member of parliament.

However, everything changed in February when Singh secured more 39 per cent of the vote to comfortably defeat Liberal candidate Richard T. Lee and Conservative Jay Shin.

Singh and Stetski hosted another opportunity for voters to speak to the Federal Leader later in the evening at the Hume Hotel.

The Federal Election is set for Monday, October 21.

Stetski will be in tough to repeat as Kootenay Columbia MP after the former Cranbrook Mayor won the riding by a slim 285-vote margin over David Wilks of the Conservative Party.

Stetski took home 37.2 per cent of the vote to Wilks 36.8 per cent. Don Johnston of the Liberal Party finished third with a strong 19.8 per cent while Bill Green of the Green Party was fourth at 6.5 per cent.

This time around Stetski is up against Rob Morrison of the Conservative Party, Rick Stewart of the People’s Party of Canada and Abra Brynne of the Green Party.
