Mountain Station Parking Lot getting new look

The City of Nelson is advising residents that Yellowhead Road and Bridge (YRB) will begin performing work to improve the Mountain Station parking lot located at the top of Gore and Cherry Streets.
The project will see improvements to the parking area, including a newly paved surface, along with proper drainage and the re-routing of the BNR walking trail around the parking area.
Minor work will begin in the next couple of days, with the majority of the construction taking place on the September long weekend.
Paving of the parking lot is scheduled to begin on September 12, 2016.
YRB has indicated there will be some minor traffic interruptions during the work schedule, but they anticipate they will be able to keep traffic flowing up to Mountain Station Road via Gore Street.
YRB will be closing the parking lot after the long weekend to finalize the construction and paving to ensure public and worker safety.
