Motorbike daredevils take centre stage at this weekend's fall fair

If you only leave the house once this weekend, make sure it’s to enjoy the region’s premiere autumn extravaganza, with exciting new attractions to mark its 20th year wowing locals and tourists alike.
The Pass Creek Fall Fair is absolutely a celebration of agriculture, animal husbandry and food production – but it’s so, so much more, as well: vendors, exhibits, games, food, horses, live entertainment … the list is virtually endless, and there’s fun for the whole family.
Adding some extra pizzaz this year are the motorbike daredevils of FMX (check them out at www.globalfmx.com). The insanely daring showmanship of this group is never less than entertaining, earning them international acclaim – a real treat for the West Kootenay.
Donna Smith, one of the event organizers, has been with the fair for the entirety of its two-decade span, and she says this weekend will be more jam-packed with revelry than ever before.
“The event has really grown – There really is something for everyone, and the entry price is the same now as it was 14 years ago,” she said, adding the cost is $5 per person, with kids under six getting in free.
There’s also the pancake breakfast, horse show, fun swing carnival ride, antique car show, and the much-loved Dirty Diggers, giving kids a chance to ride in (and even drive) light equipment like mini-excavators. That’s not to mention the clown, the old-fashioned blacksmith and thrashing demos, miniature golf, small farm animal displays, live bands and more!
And don’t bother packing a lunch – the range and variety of fabulous food vendors offer something for every taste and palate.
“We’ve been voted the Best Small Fair in B.C. by B.C. Fairs Association several times, and we hope to take home the honour again this year,” Smith said.
The event runs this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with FREE park and ride service from the Complex and the Station Museum both days between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
