The L.V. Rogers Bombers Field Hockey teams had some mixed results during games against West Kootenay rivals Stanley Humphries of Castlegar and J. Lloyd Crowe of Trail.

The LVR Girls defeated an inexperienced Stanley Humphires side Monday 8-0. Shianne Michalchuck was a one-person wrecking crew scoring six times with Jessica McLeod and Paige Miesner adding singles.

Tuesday, the Hawks broke open a close game with three second half markers to defeate the Bombers 6-2 Tuesday.

The game started out very even and both sides had opportunities to score good defense and goal tending at both ends.

The Bombers began to press late in the first half through the speedy play of Hanna Quinn, Julia Burkart and Michalchuck and were soon rewarded with a goal from Quinn after the Bombers began to assert themselves around the Crowe penalty area.

Michalchuck scored a few minutes later after a quick free hit was taken by Burkart.

Crowe came back a few minutes later and scored two quick ones on rookie goalie Mae Gillespie before adding a marker before half time.

In the second half the Bombers tried to make some adjustments but just could not get the right combination out there to re-establish our fast checking game.

Meanwhile, the Junior Girls edged Crowe 2-0. Zoe Baxter and Jessica McLeod scored for the Bombers against Crowe.

Next for the Bombers is a tournament this weekend in Oliver.
