The 2012 Market Fest went out with a bang as huge crowds flocked to the 200 and 300 blocks of Baker Street for the grand finale Friday evening in Nelson.

Crowds began arriving even before 100 or so vendors had opened for business on a glorious August evening in the Heritage City.

There was something for everyone as the event, organized by the West Kootenay EcoSociety, provided many tents with merchandise, food and, of course, two entertainment stages.

While Market Fest may be done for the year, the EcoSociety has plenty of other events on tap including, the fourth annual Fall Fair — at Cottonwood Falls Park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 24 — the weekly Cottonwood Markets from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., concluding October 27 —  and the Nelson Downtown Market, Wednesday’s until September 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Check out a few of the happenings at Friday’s Market Fest compliments of The Nelson Daily Editor Bruce Fuhr.
