Combine great West Coast blues harmonica with blues guitar and you have the makings of one great show.

That great show will be at The Royal on Monday, Oct. 25 as Mark Hummel and the Blues Survivors (with Rusty Zinn) take the stage (7:30 p.m.) — a Legendary Blues Promotions and Kootenay Co-op Radio presentation.

Hummel is described as a road warrior, a true blues survivor. Along the way in his career, he has crafted his own trademark harmonica sound — a subtle combination of tone, phrasing and attack combined with a strong sense of swing.

While Hummel is new to Electro Fi Records, his earlier albums, constant touring and appearances at the major blues festivals have firmly established his solid reputation around the Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Zinn played guitar in Hummel’s band in the early 1990s before being discovered by Fabulous Thunderbirds’ Kim Wilson on a Hummel gig. Since, Zinn has become not only a first rate guitar talent in blues and reggae, but an incredible singer, with soul to spare.

Zinn’s first two Black Top records, Alligator release, and Bad Daddy CD’s all garnered rave reviews worldwide.

Tickets are $15 and are available at Urban Legends (533 Baker St.), Kootenay Co-op Radio and The Royal (330 Baker St).
