Man charged following report of stabbing in Midway

A man in his 40s was arrested Thursday by police in Castlegar following a stabbing June 1 in Midway RCMP said Friday in a media release.

The incident began on Wednesday, June 1, 2020 when RCMP received multiple emergency calls regarding a man reported to have been stabbed.

RCMP said officers and emergency services personnel immediately attended the parking lot of a local motel where they found the victim sitting on the sidewalk.

The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment for serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation identified a suspect and on June 25th, 2020, Scott MacDougall, a 41-year-old man was arrested by Castlegar RCMP.

MacDougall has been charged with aggravated assault, breach of probation and breach of recognizance and has been held in custody pending future court date.

 

The people involved in this matter are known to each other and police to not believe there is further risk to the greater public.
