Long arm of the NPD law corral two men on outstanding warrants

Nelson Police was kept busy during the past few days rounding up two men wanted on outstanding warrants from Quebec and Alberta.
Friday (April 3) officers, while investigating an unrelated call, found a residence with an unsecured door.
Following numerous calls to have the resident respond to police to ensure there was no crime or medical concerns at the residence, a male arrived and verbally provided identification to police.
However, short after officers realized the man had given police false identification.
After determining the proper identification of the man, police round the person was wanted in Quebec for robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon and fleeing from police.
The man had been incarcerated for the charges but fled from the institution.
The male was arrested and transported to the Nelson Police Department cells prior to being transported back to Quebec in the upcoming days.
Alberta man on outstanding warrants arrested by NPD officers
Wednesday (April 1) at 8:15 p.m. RCMP contacted NPD staff to alert the force that a male, wanted on several outstanding warrants from Alberta for trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, breaching court orders and failing to attend court, could be in the area.
Shortly after midnight (April 2) the Alberta man was recognized a NPD member in the downtown core and subsequently arrested.
The male was escorted to the Nelson RCMP and later transported back to Alberta to deal with his outstanding matters.
