A Nelson snowboarder is looking for funding to help complete a goal of competing at the Speed Nation Canadian Finals next month (April 5-9) in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.

Finn Megale has been burning up the slopes this season and now has been invited to join the BC Snowboard team in Quebec.

However, attending the Canadians is mostly “user-pay” proposition for members of the BC team.

“Finn will compete in the U15 Men’s category, and has an excellent chance of bringing home the gold,” said father Kevin Megale, who has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds.

“He has put in the effort for years, and this is his best result to date.
“We are fundraising for the travel costs to get him there,” his father Kevin adds.

“We would be very grateful for your support.  Without sponsorship and support, Finn won’t even make it to the starting gate. “

Recently, Finn Megale won a silver at the BC Provincial Snowboard Cross finals at Big White Resort near Kelowna after previously capturing a pair of silver medals during the Western Canada Snowboard Cross Series at Lake Louise.

Megale, 14, was one of more than 100 boarders who participated at the Western Canada Snowboard Cross Series.

Megale has had his sights on snowboard cross racing since he was four years old.

Last year he placed first in the BC provincials (U13), earning an invite to join the BC team in the U15 nationals where he placed eighth.

Megale needs to have funds in place by (Monday) March 20 in order to secure a spot on the roster.
