Let the Provincial B Championships begin

A handful of Nelson Selects teams are provincial bound as B.C. Soccer Association hosts its annual B-Cup playdowns in Chilliwack and Richmond.

Games begin Thursday with six Nelson Youth Soccer teams — U13, U14, U15 and U17 Girls and U15 and U18 boys — in action.

Nelson U15 Boys open the eight-team tournament at 1 p.m. against Terrace Kermodes.

Nelson then plays Pinnacles FC from Penticton Friday before concluding the round robin Saturday against Prince George.

The U18 Boys, bolstered with a few players from the U17 squad that failed to advance to the championships, meet Richmond Thursday, CCB Elite Friday and Kamloops Blaze Saturday.

Over on the girls side, Nelson U13 play North Shore Thursday, Bulkley Valley Friday and Powell River Saturday.

The U14s meet Vernon Thursday, Cowichan Friday and host Chillwack Attack Saturday.

The U15s play Langley Thursday, Chilliwack Attack Friday  and Trail/Castlegar rival Kootenay Storm Saturday.

The U17s meet Aldergrove Thursday, Coastal FS Friday and Vernon United Saturday.

The top teams in each division advance to the gold medal game while the second place teams play for Bronze.

The playoff round is set for Sunday.
