Leafs open training camp for upcoming KIJHL season

The race to knock off Beaver Valley as champions in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League begins this weekend for the Nelson Leafs Hockey Club.
Coach Frank Maida opens camp on the 2012-13 season Friday at the NDCC Arena. Camp runs all weekend as Maida and Company evaluate players for the upcoming season.
The Leafs break camp Sunday before playing both Castlegar and Beaver Valley in a pair of home-and-home exhibition series.
The preseason opens Tuesday at the NDCC Arena against Beaver Valley.
The Leafs begin regular season action Friday, September 14 with a two-game, home-and-home series against rival Castlegar Rebels.
Leaf fans get their first look at the defending KIJHL champion Beaver Valley Nitehawks Saturday, September 29 at the NDCC Arena.
