There’s nothing like a six-game winning streak and a weekend sweep of Eddie Mountain teams to get the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Power Rankings selection committee to take notice.

The Nelson Leafs jumped into second spot in KIJHL Power Rankings following a three-game road sweep of Eddie Mountain teams.

Nelson opened the trip with a 3-2 victory over rival Kimberley Dynamiters before edging Fernie Ghostriders 5-3 and blasting Creston Valley Thunder Cats 10-5.

Joe Davidson led the Leafs with five goals and four assists, including a hat-trick against Fernie, while Bennett Anklewhich had two goals for seven points.

The weekend sweep increased Nelson’s win streak to six games and improves the season record to 13-3-2-1.

Nelson was fifth overall last week.

Revelstoke Grizzlies lead the Power Rankings with a 14-1-2-3 record.

The Grizzlies picked up victories in both their games last weekend, defeating the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, 4-0.

Former Nitehawks goalie Owen Albers made 14 saves for his third shutout. They earned a 3-1 victory against the Sicamous Eagles.

Carter Bettenson led with three points, including two goals.

Columbia Valley Rockies sit third overall with Princeton Posse fourth and Kimberley fifth.

Nelson, one point behind Murdoch Division leading Grand Forks Border Bruins, host Kelowna Chiefs Saturday at 7 p.m. in the NDCC Arena.

Tuesday, November 29th, Nelson faces Beaver Valley Nitehawks at the NDCC Arena.
