It’s obvious, the Nelson Leafs don’t mind putting in a little overtime to get the job done.

Logan Wullum scored with 2:34 remaining in the first overtime period sparking the Nelson Leafs to a 3-2 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoff victory over the Castlegar Rebels Thursday night in the Sunflower City.

The win gives the Leafs a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Murdoch Division Semi Final with Game six Friday at the NDCC Arena.

All three of Nelson’s wins have come in extra time.

Nelson led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Brent Headon.

The Leafs continued to lead, 2-1, after 40 minutes as Everett Hicks and Dale Howell exchanged goals.

In the third, Logan Styler tied the game with a goal eight minutes remaining in regulation time.

Castlegar out shot the Leafs 38-30 keeping Nelson goalie Devin Allen busy for most of the game.

The winner of the series advances to meet Beaver Valley Nitehawks in the Murdoch Division Final. The Hawks ousted Grand Forks Border Bruins in four games to advance.
