Leaf captain Colton Schell didn’t take too many nights off in November.

Kootenay International Junior Hockey League voters recognized the heroics of the New Westminster native by selecting Schell Player-of-the-month for November.

Schell, 20, currently sits second in KIJHL scoring with 20 goals and 26 assists, two points behind Jordan Salahor of the Kelowna Chiefs.

During the month of November the 5’10”, 180-pound Leaf captain scored 12 times while adding nine assists for 21 points for the top team in the KIJHL and Murdoch Division leaders.

In the month of November Nelson was 10-0-0-1, with the only loss coming to Golden in overtime.

Nelson recently had its five game winning streak snapped Saturday by the Kimberley Dynamiters and hope to start another Wednesday when the Leafs travel to Spokane to face the division rival Braves.

Next home date is Friday when Creston visits the NDCC Arena for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
