The Kootenay Wild offence misfired this past weekend as the local club dropped a pair of games to Fraser Valley Rush at the NDCC Arena.

Fraser Valley scored two identical 3-0 BC Hockey Female AAA Hockey League wins in Nelson.

Nicole Wong led the Rush offence, scoring goals in each of the two games.

Also scoring were Taylor Reanna Rodin, Hunter Joseph, Sarah Merx and Nicola Murray.

Danielle Wierenga registered a pair of shutouts for Fraser Valley.

The two losses keeps the Wild winless in six start in BC Hockey Female League standings.

Fraser Valley improves to 3-2-1.

Kootenay has a week off before returning to action in Campbell River, October 23 against Vancouver Island Seals.

The Kootenay Wild consists of players from Kimberley, Cranbrook, Robson, Castlegar, Rossland, Fruitvale, Nelson, Nakusp and Grand Forks.

The FMAAA program was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite female Midget teams.

The league has had nearly 100 players move on to post-secondary hockey opportunities.
