Crowds were down, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm as people spent time at the Keep the Beat fundraiser Saturday at Nelson’s Rotary Lakeside Park.

The event is sponsored by L.V. Rogers students to support war affected children around the world.

Not only was there many star-studded entertainment acts, including evening performer Roy has Fire, but there was a silent auction, face painting and bracelet making for the kids along with many games.

There was also a 50-50 raffle.

All of the proceeds from the day go to War Child Canada.

It’s misson is to work with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice.

War Child takes an active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities and the shared responsibility to act.
